Wicked Shortlisted For 'This Morning Audience Award' At The Olivier Awards 2015

WICKED, the award-winning classic musical that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, has been shortlisted for ITV’s This Morning Audience Award. Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre is one of just four long-running shows shortlisted for the Audience Award, presented by the Olivier Awards 2015 with Mastercard.

Recently acclaimed as “one of the greatest musicals of our time” (Daily Mail), this “big-hearted musical extravaganza about the land of Oz” (Time Out London) is now the 10th longest-running show in the West End, has been seen by 6.5 million people in London alone and recently played its landmark 3500th performance. Wicked previously won the Olivier Audience Award in 2010.

While continuing its open-ended London run, this “magical musical” (Time Out London) has also been touring the UK and Ireland since September 2013. With over a million tickets already sold, Wicked will conclude this multi record-breaking tour at The Lowry in Salford in July 2015.

Around the world, the musical has been seen by 45 million people in 13 countries and won 100 international awards. The original Broadway production remains “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” (The New York Times) after more than 11 years at the Gershwin Theatre.

The Wicked London production currently stars Emma Hatton (Elphaba), Savannah Stevenson (Glinda), Jeremy Taylor (Fiyero), Liza Sadovy (Madame Morrible), Martyn Ellis (The Wizard), Philip Childs (Doctor Dillamond), Sam Lupton (Boq), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose), Natalie Andreou (Standby for Elphaba) and Sophie Linder-Lee (Standby for Glinda).

Based on the international best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire that ingeniously re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Wicked has music and lyrics by multi GRAMMY® and Academy Award® winner Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, musical staging by Wayne Cilento and is directed by two-time Tony Award® winner and Olivier Award nominee Joe Mantello. Wicked is based on the novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’ by Gregory Maguire.
