Josh Piterman to lead new cast of Phantom of the Opera in London's West End
Britt Lenting, Josh Piterman, and Richard Woodford join the cast of Phantom of the Opera this September.

Meet the new faces of London's Phantom of the Opera

Known in the UK for his performance in the touring production of Hairspray, Australian musical theatre sensation Josh Piterman is set to take over the titular role of The Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. The lead role is currently being portrayed by Tim Howar (who was temporarily replaced by David Thaxton earlier this year) and will mark Piterman's West End stage debut.

Also joining the cast of Phantom are Richard Woodford (We Will Rock You) as Monsieur André and Britt Lenting in her West End debut as Carlotta Giudicelli. Bridget Costello will now play an alternate Christine Daaé while Danny Whitehead will play Raoul.

Continuing in their roles will be Georgia Ware as Meg Giry, Jacinta Mulcahy as Madame Giry, Kelly Mathieson as Christine Daaé, Paul Ettore Tabone as Ubaldo Piangi, Ross Dawes as Monsieur Firmin, and Scott Davies as the standby Phantom.

The West End cast of The Phantom of the Opera is completed by Adam Robert Lewis, Alistair So, Andrei Teodor Iliescu, Anna Shircliff, Ben Tyler, Claire Tilling, Corinne Cowling, Danielle Pullum, Eleanor Sanderson-Nash, Ellen Jackson, Grace Castle, Hadrian Delacey, James Butcher, John Stacey, Katy Hanna, Kris Manuel, Manon Taris, Matthew Barrow, Morven Douglas, Paul Erbs, Philip Griffiths, Rebecca Ridout, Simon Whitaker, Sophie Caton, Sophie Cottrill, Tim Morgan, Victoria Ward, and Zoe Arshamian.

The new cast will perform at London's Her Majesty's Theatre beginning on 9 September 2019.

The Phantom of the Opera continues to dominate the West End theatre scene

As a consistent fan favourite at West End Live and having recently won West End Eurovision for the second year in a row, The Phantom of the Opera shows no signs of losing momentum anytime soon. The three-time Olivier Award-winning and seven-time Tony Award-winning production is currently booking until 4 April 2020 in an open-ended run. It first opened in 1986 with Michael Crawford as The Phantom opposite Sarah Brightman as Christine Daaé and it currently holds the theatre record for the longest time in the same production for Philip Griffiths, who played The Phantom for over 25 years.
