    Andy Mace to replace Paul Whitehouse as Grandad in Only Fools and Horses The Musical

    Some lovely jubbly news for fans of Only Fools and Horse! Established musical theatre actor Andy Mace (Scar/Pumbaa in The Lion King, Dillamond/TheWizard of Oz in Wicked, Bishop/Javert in Les Miserables) is set to take over the role of Grandad, which is currently portrayed by Paul Whitehouse

    Only Fools and Horses The Musical is now playing at the West End's Theatre Royal Haymarket in an open-ended run that is booking until 8 February 2020.

    Temporary replacement Andy Mace will begin his run in the role of Grandad on 29 July. Paul Whitehouse, who was instrumental in the show's creation, will take a brief "intermission" from the character and is expected to return to the role in a few months time, with a specific return date yet to be determined. Mace has been with the Only Fools and Horses production since it opened in February and prior to the announcement made today, he had been playing Mike The Barman.

    Currently starring in the cast of Only Fools and Horses The Musical are Adrian Irvine as Denzil, Chris Kiely as Mickey Pearce, Dianne Pilkington as Raquel, Jeff Nicholson as Boycie, Pete Gallagher and Adam Venue as the Driscoll Brothers, Peter Baker as Trigger, Pippa Duffy as Cassandra, Ryan Hutton as Rodney, Samantha Seager as Marlene, and Tom Bennett as Del Boy.

    The musical was written by Jim Sullivan and Paul Whitehouse and features additional music by Sullivan and Chas Hodges, choreography and direction by Caroline Jay Ranger, set and costume design by Liz Ascroft, lighting design by Richard G Jones, sound design by Rory Madden, musical supervision and arrangement by Stuart Morley, and casting by David Grindrod.
