The adapted The Tiger Who Came to Tea

This fabulous show is based on Judith Kerr’s picture book that thrilled us as children and warms the cockles of our heart as adults. The book is timeless, and the stage adaptation couldn’t be more perfect for the whole family to rejoice in this wonderful story. This Olivier Award-nominated hit show is making its return to the West End’s Theatre Royal Haymarket and just in time for Christmas. Judith’s books have sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and have been enjoyed for 50-years! Adapting this beloved tale, and directing, is David Wood who is well known for his stage adaptations of Roald Dahl’s works.

The story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea

In case the story is but a warm and hazy memory in the back of your mind, here is a recap of the exciting plot of this beloved children’s book. Sitting down for tea, Sophie and her mummy are startled to hear the doorbell ring, but not as alarmed as when they answer the door to find a tiger, stripes and all, who wants to be invited in for teatime. This tea devouring tiger has the usual teatime routines boiling over and chaos ensues as they struggle to entertain his appetite. The show brings this larger than life tiger to life live on stage and along with him, Sophie and mummy, there is music and magic galore that will have you singing along and full to the brim with delight.
