Strictly Ballroom: The Musical is based on Baz Luhrmann’s 1992 film of the same name and earned countless awards and nominations. It tells the story of Scott Hastings, whose remarkable and unique dance moves shock the Australian Federation. Soon Scott meets an amateur dancer named Fran, who has a long way to go before her craft can reach the same level as his. He takes Fran under his wing and together they oppose the conventions of dance with their radical moves in a series of show-stopping numbers that will have you captivated from start to finish.
Strictly Ballroom director and choreographer Drew McOnie has created an unforgettable extravaganza of a show that brings the highly acclaimed film to life. The lively production stars Jonny Labey (Peter Pan, EastEnders, Swingin in the Rain) as Scott Hastings and Zizi Strallen (Mary Poppins, Dirty Dancing, Cinderella) as Fran. It was also recently announced that X-Factor winner and multi-platinum-selling recording artist Matt Cardle will be joining the cast as bandleader Wally Strand starting on 31 July 2018.
