Richard Eyre's production of Blithe Spirit transfers to London in 2020!

Having first ran last June (2019) at the Theatre Royal Bath, Blithe Spirit, written by the late Noël Coward and directed by Richard Eyre, is set to hit the Duke of York's Theatre on 5 March 2020 for a strictly limited season lasting until 11 April 2020.

The play's six-week run in the West End marks the show's London leg of its UK nationwide tour, during which it will also play at Theatre Royal Brighton, Theatre Royal Bath, Cambridge Arts Theatre, Richmond Theatre, Malvern Theatres, and Theatre Royal Norwich.

Blithe Spirit touring production and West End cast

Starring in both the touring production and West End cast of Blithe Spirit is Jennifer Saunders (Coraline, Muppet Treasure Island, Shrek 2, The Simpsons, Minions), who is set to reprise her role as the kooky psychic and medium, Madame Arcati.

Saunders will be joined by returning cast members Emma Naomi as Elvira, Geoffrey Streatfeild (Match Point, Pinter's Mountain Language) as Charles, Lisa Dillon (The Master Builder) as Ruth Condomine, Lucy Robinson as Mrs Bradman, Rose Wardlaw as Edith, and Simon Coates as Dr Bradman.

    What is Blithe Spirit about?

Blithe Spirit tells the tale of published author Charles Condomine, who is currently married to his second wife, Ruth. When Charles invites over medium Madame Arcati to their house to perform a séance as research for his new book, chaos ensures when they unleash the ghost of his first wife, Elvira. The past literally begins to haunt the couple as the poltergeist Elvira terrorises their lives and threatens Charles' and Ruth's marriage. Can the Condomines survive the ghost or will their marriage come crashing down?
