    Wicked Confirms Remaining Dates For Record-Breaking UK Tour

    Wicked, the global musical phenomenon that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, is pleased to confirm the remaining dates of its record-breaking UK Tour, visiting Plymouth and Sunderland in 2015. The production will play at the Theatre Royal Plymouth (20 January to 14 February 2015) and Sunderland Empire Theatre (31 March to 25 April 2015). The tour will conclude at The Lowry in Salford in the summer of 2015.

    Following its success in Manchester, Dublin and Milton Keynes, the tour is currently at Wales Millennium Centre (until 26 April 2014) and then continues to Glasgow King’s Theatre (6 to 31 May 2014); Leeds Grand Theatre (10 June to 5 July 2014); Birmingham Hippodrome (9 July to 6 September 2014); Liverpool Empire Theatre (16 September to 11 October 2014); Southampton Mayflower Theatre (21 October to 15 November 2014); Edinburgh Playhouse (19 November 2014 to 10 January 2015); Plymouth Theatre Royal (20 January to 14 February 2015); Bristol Hippodrome (18 February to 21 March 2015); Sunderland Empire Theatre (31 March to 25 April 2015); Aberdeen His Majesty’s Theatre (5 to 30 May 2015) and concludes at The Lowry in Salford (3 June to 25 July 2015).

    Tickets are now on sale at all venues except Plymouth Theatre Royal, which go on general sale on 24 March 2014, and Sunderland Empire Theatre, which go on general sale on 31 March 2014. Tickets for all venues can be booked via London Theatre Direct.

    “This thrillingly entertaining show” (Manchester Evening News) has broken countless Box Office records, won multiple five star reviews across the UK and Ireland and has already been seen by 150,000 people. The Irish Times raved: “from the opening chorus, the whirl of light and colour that is Wicked grabs you and doesn’t let go” while the Milton Keynes Citizen said “this distinctive, green-hued saga of witchery really is the perfect prequel – and sensational sequel – to the familiar tale of Oz”.

    The award-winning London production continues its open-ended run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, where tickets are currently on sale into its 9th shortlisted for the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award at the 2014 Olivier Awards, is already the 15th longest-running musical in West End theatre history and recently celebrated its landmark 3000th year.     Around the world, Wicked has already been seen by over 39 million people and has 9 productions runningconcurrently. The original Broadway production remains “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” (The New York Times) after a decade at the Gershwin Theatre.

    In a brilliantly witty re-imagining of the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

    Wicked has music and lyrics by multi GRAMMY® and Academy Award® winner Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman, musical staging by Wayne Cilento and is directed by two-time Tony Award® winner and Olivier Award nominee Joe Mantello. Wicked, which is based on the acclaimed novel, ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’, by Gregory Maguire, has won over 90 international awards.
