    West End LIVE set to inspire new generation

    The ninth annual theatre festival, West End LIVE, has announced its line-up with a record number of productions set to take part

    The ninth annual theatre festival, West End LIVE, organised by The Society of London Theatre and Westminster Council has announced its line-up with a record number of productions set to take part. From humble beginnings in Leicester Square nine years ago, the event now attracts hundreds of thousands of people from London, the rest of the UK and from around the globe. Theatre fanatics can revel in the event on the 22nd and 23rd of June in Trafalgar Square, all for free, where they will be treated to acts and performances from 25 of the capitals top shows, including some of the best theatre productions in the world.

    Confirmed acts this year include some of our most sought after shows such as Wicked, Disney’s The Lion King, Matilda The Musical, The Phantom Of The Opera, Les Misérables, Top Hat, Thriller Live, Jersey Boys, We Will Rock You and Billy Elliot The Musical.

    The event, aimed at inspiring a new generation of theatre fanatics will showcase what is widely regarded as some of the best theatre in the world. The biggest productions in London have all agreed to take time from their hectic schedules to show the world what London theatre has to offer with some memorable and magical scenes set to be portrayed at the iconic landmark.

    Joining the long-running productions on stage at Trafalgar Square are many of our more recent additions including Burn The Floor, The Bodyguard, A Chorus Line, The Golden Voice, Once, Dirty Dancing,From Here To Eternity, Merrily We Roll Along, Beatles spectacularLet It Be, emotional drama War Horse, Stomp, children’s favourite Horrible Histories and The Colour Purple are all set to contribute to the weekend of free entertainment.


    Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said of the spectacle: “West End LIVE brings the roar of the greasepaint to the heart of the capital and all for free. From curtain up to the encore, London Theatre is unbeatable and this is a fabulous way to sample some of the most exciting shows to be seen anywhere in the world.”
