VIDEO: FASCINATING AIDA - CHECK OUT THE YOUTUBE PHENOMENON

Irrepressible cabaret trio Fascinating Aida will be making a long overdue return to the West End stage this winter with their latest revue, Cheap Flights at the Charing Cross Theatre

The much-loved theatrical stalwarts have been delivering their pithy take on society since 1983 and have been described as "Absolutely Fabulous meets Noel Coward, as sung by The Andrews Sisters".

The trio has retired twice, from 1989 to 1994, and more recently in 2004 after the death of their musical director and pianist Russell Churney.  They resurfaced in 2008 for a short spell of concerts to celebrate their 25 year anniversary, and have been popping up in various venues since then.  Their recent show Absolutely Miraculous garnered them two Drama Desk Award nominations when it transferred to New York last year.  This current show went down a storm at the Edinburgh Festival this year, so will transfer to the Charing Cross Theatre for a limited run on the 5th December.

A viral video of a performance of the titular song from their latest show has clocked up a combined total of over 8 million views on youtube, helping to bring them to a new generation of fans.  Another song on their current set list, Dogging, is racking up close to a million views, with one commentator begging for it to be made the new National Anthem.   The trio's members have changed numerous times over the years, although founder and mezzo Dillie Keane and longstanding member Adele Anderson, bass, have always been the core of the group.  They are joined on this outing by soprano Sarah-Louise Young.  Their irreverent and close to the bone humour is always refreshing when they treat us to a West End stop, as it is tempered with a cheeky but good-natured sense of fun.  If you haven't seen them, check them out!
