I mean, it’s in the title! I’m sure it’s one of those shows we’ve all heard of, especially thanks to the hit film of the same name, however, in case you didn’t know the story tells of a mother, a daughter and her 3 possible dads in a trip down the aisle on a sunny Greek island you’ll never forget! The Girls
A newcomer to the West End, which has had people falling instantly head over heels in love with it. The story is based on the film Calendar Girls, which tells the inspiring true story of the women of Yorkshire who went nude for a calendar for the WI to raise funds for charity. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
Now on its 2nd year in the West End, this is a story of an ordinary girl with an extraordinary talent. That girl being Carole King, and it’s a wonderful story that showcases some of the greatest hits from the 50s and 60s. Just prepare to feel the earth move (under your feet)! Kinky Boots
This show is full of high energy, raging sass and utter joy. The story is inspired by true events, and tells of Charlie Price, who inherits his father's shoe factory and is looking for fresh ideas to save the family business – and that’s where cabaret star Lola steps in… With music by Cyndi Lauper, costumes to envy and a story to be charmed by – it makes for a wonderful evening out. Stepping Out
Just recently opening, this play is led by Amanda Holden in a funny and heart-warming story that follows the lives of seven women and one man attempting to tap their troubles away at a weekly dancing class. Initially all thumbs and left feet, the group is just getting to grip with the basics when they are asked to take part in a charity gala… Sure to make a perfect girls night with plenty of laughs. An American in Paris
Fresh from Broadway, this recent opening and revival will sweep you away. American GI, Jerry Mulligan, is striving to make it as a painter in a city suddenly bursting with hope and possibility – but following a chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer named Lise, the streets of Paris become the backdrop to a modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war. Opening just in time for Mother’s Day, this revival will be the perfect excuse to start the jazz hands. The Glass Menagerie
This classic Tennessee Williams play stars Cherry Jones, and the story is about a family struggling to survive on hopes and dreams; with a domineering mother, a daughter lost in a world of her own and a son desperate to leave. Jersey Boys
This may seem an odd choice with there being only a few days left to catch it, but I thought it was rather fitting that it was closing on Mother’s Day. It tells an unforgettable true-life story a group of working class boys from the wrong side of the tracks that quickly became one of the biggest pop music phenomenons. That group being Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. It’s a shame it’s leaving, but if you can scramble for some tickets, it’s one worth catching. Find out more details about the show here...
