Top 5 stagey love songs #StageySoundtrackSunday

Can You Feel The Love Tonight? (The Lion King)

The top musical love song has to be The Lion King’s ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight?’ written by Elton John. You can see this number performed live on stage at the West End’s Lyceum Theatre where it has been playing for over 25 years. The song is sung by Simba and Nala in the production (and films), who are one of musical theatre’s most beloved couples.

    All I've Ever Known (Hadestwon)

Blending elements of Greek mythology with a folk- and blues-infused soundtrack, Hadestown reimagines the tragic love story of Orpheus and Eurydice, set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world. In "All I've Ever Known," Eurydice reveals her feelings to Orpheus in this gentle ballad, choosing to trust in love despite her uncertainties.

    Helpless (Hamilton)

Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of the most prolific names in musical theatre today, having written the hugely successful Hamilton and Disney’s Moana and Encanto. He directed the Oscar-nominated tick, tick… BOOM! The song "Helpless" was sung early in the musical by Eliza Schuyler as she falls for Alexander Hamilton.

Come What May (Moulin Rouge! The Musical)

Baz Luhrmann’s iconic film is reborn onstage in a vibrant musical mash-up. The unforgettable duet “Come What May” captures Christian and Satine’s boundless yet forbidden love as they fight to save the Moulin Rouge and themselves.

As Long As You're Mine (Wicked)

Frank Baum’s beloved Wicked characters continue to enchant audiences worldwide. "As Long as You're Mine" is a romantic duet between Elphaba and Fiyero, expressing their deep affection and longing in a tender moment.

A love for theatre stemmed from my love of literature and music, but the West End on my doorstep opened up a whole new appreciation and passion for all things stage-y
