Hollywood's A-list queueing up to rock out on screen in the upcoming film version of the hit Broadway musical ROCK OF AGES which is soon to transfer to London's Shaftesbury Theatre.
Tom Cruise is scheduled to star in the film adaptation of Rock Of Ages, the 1980s set rock musical that has taken America by storm. He will star as Stacee Jaxx, an aging musician whose glory days are long behind him. The musical is set in 1987 and portrays a love story between a small town girl and a big city rocker to a backdrop of classic Eighties rock hits. Cruise's character will perform Styx's Renegade and Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead Or Alive amongst others. The show also features classic music by Poison, Asia, Pat Benetar and Whitesnake, as well as numerous other seminal hits.
The film is to be directed by Adam Shankman who brought Hairspray to the big screen for the second time, with the 2007 film version of the stage version…of the 1988 John Waters film of the same name. Other performers rumoured to be involved in the Rock Of Ages film are Taylor Swift, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige and Anne Hathaway, so it promises to be quite a star-studded affair. The stage version of the show will open in the West End at the Shaftesbury Theatre in September of this year and is likely sell up a storm as buzz about the film version will be hotting up at that point.
