Thriller Live! review by #TicketTuesday winner Leah Mcgrath

Leah Mcgrath was our lucky winner for a recent #TicketTuesday competition on our Facebook and Twitter sites.  She went to see the hit show Thriller Live! which has been wowing audiences since January 2009 at the Lyric Theatre.  On the anniversary of Michel Jackson's death we remember the magic and unique talent that was the King Of Pop, with the show that celebrates his incredible legacy.   Here is Leah's exclusive review:

Leah Mcgrath saw Thriller's Sunday matinee on the 17th June 2012.

I entered a Ticket Tuesday competition on London Theatre Direct’s Facebook page to win 2 tickets to see Thriller Live at the Lyric Theatre. I had requested a date that was just 10 days later, so I was surprised that I got such brilliant seats, 5th row back in Stalls. My mum came with me and we settled down for an entertaining afternoon of Michael Jackson.

Every aspect of Michael’s career was covered during this performance, from the disco classics of the Jackson 5, to the 80’s pop hits, right through to his more inspirational hits like Heal The World and Man In The Mirror. Everything that Michael was famous for was covered, his famous Moonwalk, his Smooth Criminal leaning move, and not forgetting the title song and dance, Thriller!

They had the white gloves, they had the white socks, they had the moves and the tunes! It was a highly entertaining show, complete with audience participation. There was no sitting in silence at this show! We stood, we danced, we sang along at times.

It was good to see all the various singers and dancers who portrayed the many aspects of Michael Jackson. The man in the hat who did all the dances was spot on with the moves, and the lead female vocalist was very good too. The kid who played the young Michael deserves a special mention, he was excellent! And personally, I rather fancied the long-haired guy, but don’t tell anyone! Shhh!

As for the costumes, all were excellent! I loved the 70’s mismatched trousers and waistcoats of the Jackson 5, and the smart trouser suits and leather jackets of Michael’s 80’s and 90’s. The zombies in Thriller looked great too! And those big afro wigs were brilliant!

Michael Jackson was an inspiration to so many people around the world, and Thriller Live serves as an excellent tribute to this remarkable man, without dwelling on the singer’s tragic death.

Thank you London Theatre Direct for this amazing opportunity to see the show again. I hope to enter more Ticket Tuesday competitions in the future!
