Thriller Live And The Commitments Extend West End Runs

The West End productions of Thriller Live and The Commitments have both extended their West End runs to April 2015.

Thriller Live has extended its booking period at the Lyric Theatre to Sunday 19th April 2015. The show has now played 2,173 performances at the Lyric since it opened in January 2009.

Nica Burns (Chief Executive of Nimax Theatres) said: “Thriller Live brings people together from all walks of life to celebrate the genius of Michael Jackson and his incredible music. They go home singing and dancing. No wonder the show holds the record for the longest ever run in the Lyric Theatre’s 125-year history. It may yet double its own record!”

Thriller Live is described as a "constantly changing spectacular concert-style show that celebrates the unforgettable music and iconic dance moves of the world's greatest entertainer and undisputed King of Pop".

Meanwhile The Commitments has also extended its West End run at the Palace Theatre until Sunday 19th April 2015. The musical opened in October 2013 featuring a cast full of fresh and exciting talent. The show has been adapted for the stage by Booker Prize-winning Roddy Doyle, from his original novel.

Producer Phil McIntyre said: “We’re extremely happy to announce that The Commitments has extended its current booking period to April 2015. The show has really found its feet in the Palace Theatre and the response from audiences has been quite incredible."

The musical is directed by the award-winning Jamie Lloyd and is packed with classic soul songs including ‘Think’ by Aretha Franklin, ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ by The Rolling Stones, ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’ by The Temptations, ‘Night Train’ by James Brown, ‘In The Midnight Hour’ by Wilson Pickett, ‘Try A Little Tenderness’ by Otis Redding and ‘Mustang Sally’.
