For the last 34 years, the St Martin's Theatre London has been home to the record breaking murder mystery play The Mousetrap. It is now the longest running show of any type in the world, and that is not by luck. Being described as Wonderful, Brilliant, Legendary and A Must See, there's no wonder why these St Martin's Theatre tickets London are still selling so well every night.

The play is a thrilling ‘who dun it’ mystery. Eight people are snowed in at a guest house. The owners Mollie and Giles Ralston, four invited guests, each with eccentric characteristics, the unexpected guest, who turns up out of the blue after his car overturns in the snow storm and finally a skiing detective. Once everyone has arrived it is not long before a murder takes place and the detective assembles all the guests together and interrogates them one by one. Each avoid the truth, some by silence and others by lies. Can the murderer be caught before more deaths happen? After running for over 58 years and staging over 23,000 performances, many people can now answer that question. The St Martin's Theatre seating plan has a capacity of 550 people, so the amount of people who have seen this show is phenomenal.

    The Mousetrap
Many people think of The Mousetrap when they hear St Martin's Theatre, however this theatre has a long history before this show. Opening in 1916 and originally intending to be one of a pair with the adjacent Ambassadors Theatre which opened in 1913, the St Martin's debut was delayed by the outbreak of the Great War. The first performance, of Houpla, billed as a comedy with music, took place on 23rd November 1916 and The Mousetrap didn't arrive at the theatre until 1974.

Following the extensive interior refurbishment over the last few years, the St Martin's has recently undergone a major exterior refurbishment. The outside has been restored to its former glory. A replica of the original 1916 canopy was constructed in Cheshire and put in place in February 1998. The whole of the exterior has been repaired and repainted.

The St Martin's Theatre is one of the few West End theatres that is still privately owned. The Theatre is located centrally in London's West End on West Street, Cambridge Circus.
