Smash star Raza Jaffrey to join West End cast of Chicago

It has just been announced that British star of the new hit American TV series Smash, Raza Jaffrey, will join London's cast of Chicago taking on the roll of Billy Flynn for a very limited time from 16 May to 14 July 2012.

Jaffrey was spotted by Chicago producer Barry Weissler on the series Smash, which is co-produced by Steven Spielberg, and offered him the role. Jaffrey's previous roles on TV include playing Zaf Younis in BBC spy drama Spooks, Hari Dhillon in Mistresses and film roles include Sex and the City 2, Harry Brown and Eastern Promises.

He is also not a stranger to the stage. Jaffrey made his West End debut as Sky in Mamma Mia and went on to play Akaash in the original production of Bombay Dream and then Orsino in Twelfth Night.

During his short run as Billy Flynn, his co-stars will include Sarah Soetaert as Roxie Hart, Rachel McDowell as Velma Kelly and James Doherty as Amos Hart. Following on from Jaffrey in the role of Billy Flynn from 17 July, will be Olympic Gold Medallist and Dancing on Ice judge Robin Cousins.

If you would like to see Jaffrey or Cousins during the busy time of the London Olympics then book your tickets now as they are sure to sell fast!
