Seven Time Olivier Award-Winning The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time Extends!

The National Theatre’s acclaimed production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Timeat the Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End today (3 February) announced the release of over 150,000 tickets, taking bookings to 24 October 2015.
Director Marianne Elliott’s seven-time Olivier Award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time can also be seen on tour in the UK and Ireland, where the show was recently nominated for two Manchester Theatre Awards for its run at the Lowry, Salford, including ‘Best Visiting Production’ and ‘Best Actor’ for Joshua Jenkins as Christopher Boone. The tour continues its run until 7 November 2015.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time opened to critical acclaim at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Broadway in October 2014, where the show continues to play to packed houses and last week announced the production has officially recouped.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is based on Mark Haddon’s award-winning novel, adapted by Simon Stephens. The production is designed by Bunny Christie, with lighting by Paule Constable, video design by Finn Ross, movement by Scott Graham and Steven Hoggett for Frantic Assembly, music by Adrian Sutton and sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time London production opened at the National’s Cottesloe Theatre in August 2012. Following the sell-out run at the NT the production transferred to the Apollo Theatre in March 2013. In May last year Simon Stephens’ adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was added to the AQA GCSE English literature set texts for English schools, making it the only modern play currently performing in the West End to be part of AQA Post-1914 drama and prose selection.
Christopher, fifteen years old, stands besides Mrs Shears’ dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in a book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. He has an extraordinary brain, and is exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.
The Gielgud theatre cast comprises Graham Butler as Christopher, Vivienne Acheampong (No. 40/Punk Girl), Daniel Casey (Roger Shears), Emily Joyce (Judy), Abram Rooney (Alternate Christopher), Gay Soper (Mrs Alexander), Paul Stocker (Mr Thompson), Nicolas Tennant (Ed), Tony Turner (Reverend Peters), Victoria Willing (Mrs Shears) and Sarah Woodward (Siobhan). They are joined by Sam Bond, Penelope McGhie, Roxanne Palmer and Mark Rawlings.
