REVIEW: Peter Pan Goes Wrong 'an awfully big adventure'

Recently I was lucky enough to be in the audience at Pinewood Studios to see the recording of Peter Pan Goes Wrong for the BBC. The show will be broadcast over the Christmas period and features a delightful cameo from the ever-brilliant David Suchett in the role of the Narrator.

Having seen the recording, I was intrigued to see what the West End show was like, if there had been any major changes and would it still have it’s charm and sense of joy second time round. If anything, the show was even better.
Once you’ve seen a production you know the jokes, the comic business and story line and so second time round it can lose some of its original magic. The delightfully energetic and exuberant cast of Peter Pan Goes Wrong made the show feel fun, fresh and it was a wonder to see.
This is down to the hugely talented cast (yes even Max) and also to the wonderful creativity and ingenuity of the production team. Every opportunity had been exploited for the fun and comedy and it is an evening at the theatre that will leave you laughing all the way down Shaftesbury Avenue.
After having seen this play, I look forward to experiencing Mischief Theatre’s The Play That Goes Wrong and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery. Three plays running simultaneously in the west end is certainly an achievement and, ‘an awfully big adventure.’
