REVIEW: Alice's Adventures Underground (in exactly 250 words)

Alice's Adventures Underground is a fun, engaging piece of interactive theatre currently playing at The Vaults. If you go to the production with an open mind, you can't help but have a good time.

When you walk into The Vaults, you are immediately immersed in a wonderful Wonderland atmosphere and can try themed food and drinks (including some very inventive cocktails). You are then led into the first of many rooms, where you can choose to 'eat me' or 'drink me' – a choice which kick-starts your interactive journey through Wonderland.

For me, the best part of the production was the level of detail that had gone into transforming  11 tunnels, 5 miles of cable, 203 speakers, 8 projectors (and a whole heap more) into Wonderland–  it has to be seen to be believed. The cast also brings Wonderland to life, drawing in their audiences with energy and versatility.

The story comes to a rather abrupt and slightly anticlimactic end after building for 90 minutes. Considering that tickets prices for the show are (whilst not unreasonable) quite expensive, this felt a little bit disappointing.

All in all, the show is a lot of fun and perfect if you are looking to experience something different. Performance times are staggered at regular intervals, so it is easy to find a time and date that suits you. A kids' version of the show is also performed regularly. You can catch Alice's Adventures Underground at The Vaults until the end of September this year.
