Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has today confirmed its complete programme of shows for summer 2014. All My Sons will open the season, followed by Hobson’s Choice and a production of Twelfth Night re-imagined for everyone aged six and over. Porgy and Bess will then be staged prior to the previously announced return of To Kill a Mockingbird, which will bring the 2014 summer season to a close.

Artistic Director Timothy Sheader will direct Arthur Miller’s 20th Century classic play All My Sons, opening the 2014 season on 15 May (running until 7 June 2013). Timothy Sheader previously directed Arthur Miller’s The Crucible during the 2010 season, winning the whatsonstage.com award for Best Director.
 

Hobson’s Choice will then run from 12 June to 12 July, directed by Nadia Fall (Doctor’s Dilemma and Home at the National Theatre, Disgraced at the Bush Theatre). Harold Brighouse’s unlikely love story combines comedy with romance as it follows the lives and loves of boot-maker Henry Horatio Hobson and his three daughters.
 

From 21 June to 12 July, William Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night produced specifically for audiences aged six and over will run in daytime performances alongside Hobson’s Choice. Using Shakespeare’s original text, Twelfth Night re-imagined will be directed by Max Webster (My Generation at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Anna Karenina at the Arcola, and the forthcoming production of Orlando at The Royal Exchange Manchester) and follows Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s previous productions of Pericles, Macbeth, The Tempest and The Winter’s Tale especially created for younger audiences. Twelfth Night re-imagined will be supported by in-school workshops devised by the Young Shakespeare Company for years 3-6.
 

Celebrated as a landmark piece of American theatre, the Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess will run from 17 July to 23 August, directed by Timothy Sheader, with a book adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and a musical score adapted by Diedre L. Murray. A powerful story of love and betrayal Porgy and Bess tells of Porgy, a beggar, and his devotion to taming wild Bess to save her from a life of ruin. 
 

As previously announced, the 2013 critically acclaimed sold-out production of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird will then return to the venue to bring the 2014 season to a close. Running 28 August to 13 September, To Kill a Mockingbird will once more be directed by Timothy Sheader in an adaptation for the stage by Christopher Sergel. It will play immediately prior to a UK tour running into 2015.

Full cast and creative team for all productions will be announced in due course. 

Tickets for To Kill a Mockingbird are on sale now, whilst tickets for All My Sons, Hobson’s Choice, Twelfth Night re-imagined and Porgy and Bess will go on sale in early December.
