Rave Reviews for Evita's West End Return!

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's much-loved musical Evita makes a West End return for a limited run at the Dominion Theatre this September. Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow stars as Che and Madalena Alberto plays Eva Peron.

Evita recounts the life of Eva Peron, the wife of former Argentine dicator Juan Peron.  It's charts her early life, her rise to political power and being seen as a spiritual leader in Argentina, through to her death. The score features some of the biggest hit songs ever written, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night Of A Thousand Stars, Another Suitcase In Another Hall, Oh What A Circus, You Must Love Me and many more.

The original London production of Evita opened in 1978 after an initial concept album two years previously.  Having also proved a success on Broadway the show has seen other revivals in the West End in 2006 and a recent Broadway revival in 2012. The piece gained a wider global saturation with a 1996 movie version starring pop megastar Madonna in the title role and Spanish actor Antonio Banderas which was widely acclaimed and led to wins at both the Golden Globes and the Oscars.
