NO STOPPING THE ROCK: WE WILL ROCK YOU Extends Again

Now to run until late 2010 and announces 19 Shows for Christmas/New Year

Now running in its eighth year, Queen and Ben Elton’s worldwide smash hit musical  We Will Rock You, is set to rock on throughout 2010 with the announcement today that the show’s present run is to be once again extended. From today, Monday, 26 October, bookings will be available through to October 2010, guaranteeing the show a further year at least at the Dominion, now a wholly-owned Nederlander theatre.

Since opening at the Dominion in May 2002, We Will Rock You, which fashions a futurist comedy around 24 of Queen’s biggest hits, has become a rock theatrical phenomenon and earned itself the title of ‘London’s Greatest Night Out’ with a standing ovation at every performance.

The show’s original two year London run has now been extended 10 times. The Toronto production was extended 17 times.  The original twelve-month German production is now approaching its fourth year.  And the show’s UK tour, running concurrently with the London production, which began early 2009 and has played to packed houses since, has also just announced it will continue to run into next year with a Dublin season just added.

We Will Rock You’s current audience count – with 4.6 million alone in London – now goes well beyond  10 million, figures that can only escalate with a Milan production opening December 4 and two further European productions next year.

Says Queen’s Brian May: “Our show has come of age…we’re very proud to see We Will Rock You becoming one of London’s biggest success stories.”

Roger Taylor says: “Eight years and all those people, I can hardly believe it!  Deep down, people just love laughter and Rock and Roll I guess. That's a good night out!”

The production today also announced an extra helping of We Will Rock You over the Christmas and New Year period with added matinees throughout the entire New Year week.  Matinees will run every day Monday 28th December to Saturday 2nd January inclusive.

Last year’s Christmas shows saw We Will Rock You achieve the highest single week of theatre sales of 2008, making it the most successful show of the year in terms of paid admissions.
