    New cast to join Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre

    New cast members will join the West End production of Mamma Mia! at the Novello Theatre from Monday 9th June. The Abba musical, which recently celebrated its 15th birthday in the West End, has been seen by more than 54 million people in 39 productions in 14 different languages grossing more than $2 billion at the box office.

    Rebecca Lock (The Phantom of the Opera) will join the cast as Rosie, Alasdair Harvey (currently playing Khashoggi in We Will Rock You) as Harry and Charles Daish (Hampstead’s Race) as Bill. Alice Stokoe will make her West End debut as Sophie Sheridan and Lloyd Green will make his professional debut as Sky. 

    Rosanna Bates and Brodie McBride are also joining the cast as Ali and Lisa opposite James Alexander Gibbs and James Alan-Evans as Pepper and Eddie. Dianne Pilkington will continue to star as Donna Sheridan, with Kim Ismay as Tanya and Richard Trinder as Sam. At certain performances, the role of Donna Sheridan will be played by returning cast member Shona White.

    Not only is Mamma Mia! successful on stage, but Judy Craymer’s film adaptation, starring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, is the highest grossing live action musical film of all time. Mamma Mia! originally opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1999 before transferring to the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2004. The musical re-opened at the Novello Theatre in 2012 where it continues to break records.

    Producers claim more than 10% of the entire UK population have seen the show which has celebrated over 6,300 performances in London and has broken box office records in all three of its London homes.

    Mamma Mia! has music & lyrics by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus, is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken, and musical supervision, additional material & arrangements by Martin Koch.
