SOBOM (The Society Of Box Office Managers) exists to promote goodwill, fellowship and informed debate within the Box Office and ticketing world and to aid those in the profession towards a higher valuation of their work plus increased prestige to their venues. The Society is set out to promote ideas and new developments in Box Office techniques as widely as is possible within the ticketing, entertainment and leisure industries.
The annual awards held in at Planet Hollywood last night, hosted by Christopher Biggins, a longtime supporter of SOBOM, are voted for by the members of the ticketing community. As well as individual show awards, the categories include customer service, outstanding achievement (won by the Queens and Gielgud for their response to the situation at the Apollo last December), industry newcomer and lifetime achievement.
