GOSSIP: THE KING'S SPEECH TO RECEIVE WEST END TRANSFER?

After strong reviews since opening on 10th February at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford, The King's Speech currently on a UK tour is rumoured to be set for a West End transfer with The Wyndhams Theatre being one of the possibilities to stage the production.

The critics have described the play as elegant, lucid and witty.

The UK tour of the play written by David Seidler will finish it's run at the Theatre Royal in Newcastle on 17th March which times nicely with the end of the run for the Jackie Mason Fearless show at the Wyndhams Theatre.

The production which is sure to do well after being a hit film that grossed over $400,000 worldwide and won Colin Firth an Oscar this time last year is directed by Adrian Noble, former artistic director at the RSC.

The current cast is Charles Edward as King George VI who is best known for starring in The 39 Steps in London and on Broadway together with Jonathan Hyde as speech therapist Lional Logue.  He is a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company with numerous theatre, television and film credits to his name.  Most recently he was in the final series of BBC's Spooks.

Supporting cast are Emma Fielding as Queen Elizabeth, Joss Ackland as King George V, Michael Feast as Cosmo Lang, Charlotte Randle as Myrtle Logue, Ian McNeice as Winston Churchill, David Killick as Stanley Baldwin and Daniel Betts as King Edward VII.

    We will keep you posted!
