GOSSIP: MORE NIGHTMARES IN THE WEST END???

Ghost Stories co-writers Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson are planning to build on the success of their first collaboration with a second play, described by Nyman as a thriller.

Nyman - who also appears in Ghost Stories, which is currently playing in the West End  at the Duke of Yorks Theatre told The Stage the new play will happen after a film the pair are currently writing together.

He said the play they are developing will not be horror-themed like Ghost Stories, but it will be “thrilling”.

Ghost Stories was Nyman’s first play, and he said he hoped his next work with Dyson will be as successful in attracting new audiences to the theatre as Ghost Stories has been, claiming that the majority of the show’s audience “have never been to a theatre before”.

According to research from the Lyric Hammersmith, where the show opened before transferring to the West End, 81% of the people who saw the production there were new to that theatre.

Nyman, who is soon to star in Channel 4’s new comedy Campus, added that most of the show’s audience in the West End is aged between 16 and 25.

Ghost Stories continues to thrill audiences in London's West End.

This show has been an absolute smash hit since it opened in June 2010, having scared over 150,000 audience members so far.

It has proved a favourite amongst theatre goers, horror fans and celebrities as well.

The show has now been extended until 2nd October 2011, in June completing the show's first year in the West End, a staggering achievement for any play.
