DVD RELEASE TO CO-INCIDE WITH SIMON CALLOW'S BEING SHAKESPEARE

Simon Callow returns to the Trafalgar Studios this March to reprise his role in critical hit Being Shakespeare

The one man show is directed by Tom Cairns and weaves together extracts from the bard's most famous plays and poems and the life story of the man behind the legend. The Guardian called the show "a memorable multidimensional picture of Shakespeare, steeped in scholarship and love".

Written by Jonathan Bate, a renowned Shakespeare scholar, the production takes its cue from Jacques 'Seven Ages Of Man' speech in As You Like It.

The original West End run of the show at the same venue in 2011 was received to widespread acclaim leading to Sky Arts filming it for their upcoming Shakespeare Season which begins on April 15th.  A DVD version is to be released before the tv airdate to co-incide with the show's London return when it plays again at the Trafalgar Studios from 8th to 31st March, prior to a Broadway transfer.

The DVD will be released by Illuminations in conjunction with ATG and ACT productions.  It will also feature a bonus interview with Simon Callow as well as performances of his personal selection of Shakespeare's Sonnets, including the famous Sonnet 18.  The DVD is available through www.illuminationsmedia.co.uk
