DRIVING MISS DAISY SMASHES ALL PREVIOUS RECORDS COLLECTING MONEY FOR CHARITY ACTING FOR OTHERS

Cast members, Vanessa Redgrave, James Earl Jones and Boyd Gaines encouraged audiences attending the Wyndhams Theatre for Driving Miss Daisy  to donate £13, 847.89, the largest collection that charity Acting For Others has received since the collections were initiated in 2003.

Collections ranged from £66.50 to £13,847.89 with 90% of West End theatres joining in, but Driving Miss Daisy smashed the record, selling off signed posters in return for donations to the charity.

Vanessa Redgrave commented, "I am so happy our fundraising was so warmly welcomed by our audiences".  The critically acclaimed production of Driving Miss Daisy is running at the Wyndham¹s Theatre until 17 December.

    Acting For Others

In the 1960's Laurence Olivier, together with Noel Coward and Richard Attenborough had the idea of promoting a single annual fund-raising event for all the theatrical charities.  The Combined Theatrical Charities was formed.  In 2003 Acting for Others started their first annual collection campaign.

Once a year performers on stages around the UK are invited to appeal to their audience to assist them in helping their less fortunate colleagues.
