CZECH PRIME MINISTER CHECKS OUT YES, PRIME MINISTER

The West End production of Yes, Prime Minister is closing at the Gielgud Theatre but it’s won a new fan in Czech Prime Minister,  Petr Necas.

The stage adaptation of the much-loved 1980's political satire Yes, Prime Minister ends on 15 January prior to being recast and going on a national tour in the UK.

Meanwhile, the Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas has insisted that his MPs watch recordings of the original BBC shows.

Speaking to Czech television, Necas said the sitcom is a "realistic document" that shows how government really works.

Written by Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, the BAFTA award-winning political comedy Yes, Minister first aired on BBC2 in 1980 and ran until 1984. It was followed by Yes, Prime Minister from 1986 until 1988.

The popular TV series that is based around an egotistical Minister and his government aide, have been shown on Czech television since 2001, with a spin-off book becoming a best-seller in the Czech Republic in 2003.
