COULD YOU SPEND A NIGHT IN A COFFIN?

Four plucky souls attempt to last the night sealed in a coffin to promote spooky West End hit Ghost Stories currently playing at the Duke Of Yorks Theatre …and win a trip to New York!

London megahit Ghost Stories dared four theatregoers to spend the night in a coffin for the chance to win two flights to New York.  The Duke Of Yorks is one of the London theatres said to be haunted.  Bari Ghai, the Lead Investigator of Ghostfinder Paranormal Society, also joined the contestants in a fifth coffin and brought ghost-reading equipment with him to measure for any ghoulish action on the night.  "I've been investigating paranormal activity for many years so thought it was a great opportunity to spend the night in a haunted theatre and in a coffin too" he revealed.  "I can honestly say it was one of the most difficult experiences I've ever had, I hardly slept!"

Of the four willing victims of the hi-jinks, only three made it all the way through the night, with Alistair Foster from Wolverhampton having to break free from his confines at 3.45am.  David Harvey from Bishops Stortford and Krystal Dockery from Richmond survived the chilling test, but were beaten by eventual winner Jessica Wright from Finsbury Park for the coveted flights after the three survivors were put into a draw.  The twenty nine year old graphic designer confessed " "It was absolutely awful.  There was something scraping our coffins.  There were sudden loud bangs and the constant sound of dripping water.  At one point I thought I was going to have to get out - it was terrifying.  I had no idea what time it was and it was the longest night ever.  It all seems worth it now as I get to go to New York!"

The theatre's resident ghost is Violet Melonette, a onetime actress and former manager of the venue.  Melonette is often seen dressed in black and is partial to slamming doors backstage.  She is usually simply referred to as 'Madame'.   Ghost Stories extended run will terminate on Sunday 19th June so book tickets while you can…if you dare!
