Black Friday Power Cut in West End

In the West End this year Black Friday lived up to its name. The West End and Soho districts suffered power cuts that left many streets, people and theatres in the dark.

Disney's Aladdin at the Prince Edward Theatre was cancelled along with Les Miserables, Mischief Theatre's Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Jersey Boys, and the Gielgud Theatre's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Murder Ballad were pushed to 8:30 start times. Thriller Live initially announced a cancellation, later pushed an 8:30 start time and in the end were forced to cancel the show.
While disappointed, most theatre goers seemed to understand that the circumstances were beyond the theatre's control. Some out of town visitors who had not purchased expressed concern that they would not be reimbursed travel/hotel costs, or worse yet, that they would be unable to reschedule their trips.
Theatres instructed patrons to refer to their original points of purchase to inquire about refunds. If you purchased tickets through London Theatre Direct for one of the effected shows please call us on 0845 505 8500 with your order number, or email us at [email protected] . You will be refunded in full.

Sarah's love of theater was sparked by an enthusiastic drama teacher who wouldn't take no for an answer. These days she's much more comfortable in the audience than on the stage. She's an English teacher and enjoys reading and writing when she's not teaching or at the theater.
