Geronimo Rauch will take over the title role in The Phantom of the Opera from 2 September.  The iconic role has been played my numerous West End stars over the years including Michael Crawford, Ramin Karimloo, Marcus Lovett and John Owen Jones.   Rauch was a member of Argentinian boyband Mambrú from 2002 until 2005 before moving into musical theatre.

Mambrú released three studio albums and enjoyed both local an international success.  They were formed on the Aregntinian version of Popstars and their first, self-titled album went triple platinum, selling over 120,000 copies.   He made his musical theatre debut in the Argentinian version of Les Miserables, and since then has starred in Argentinian productions of Grease, Jesus Christ Superstar and Chicago.

Rauch was selected to play Jean Valjean in the Spanish production of Les Miserables, after which he made his West End debut taking over the same role at the Queens Theatre in June 2012 under a year's contract.  He also featured on the high profile 25th Anniversary concert of Les Miserables as one of the convicts.
