American Psycho Starring Matt Smith Set For West End Run, Composer Confirms.

Composer Duncan Sheik confirms a West End run for AMERICAN PSYCHO starring Matt Smith later in 2014.

Speaking to KFOG-FM in San Francisco, American Psycho composer Duncan Sheik confirmed the rumours, "It looks like we’re doing a West End transfer in the fall, and if that goes well, we’ll bring it to America."

American Psycho, the musical thriller based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel, and subsequent movie of the same name, recently concluded its sold-out world premiere engagement at the Almeida Theatre.

Featuring a musical score by Sheik, winner of a Tony Award for Spring Awakening in 2007, and a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, AMERICAN PSYCHO follows a narcissistic young banker (played by former Time Lord, Matt Smith) who has a murderous, psychopathic alter ego that he hides from his friends and co-workers.

American Psycho is directed by Rupert Goold.

Sheik also confirmed that Matt Smith will return to the role in the West End. “He is the biggest sweetheart ever,” Sheik said about Smith. “He did an amazing job. I’m really excited about getting back [to London] and working with Matt again.”

No theatre has yet been announced for American Psycho. We'll keep you posted!
