Tickets for the West End return of Cats the Musical go on sale today (July 7, 2014)!

Cats, Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary, record-breaking musical returns to the West End! Seen by over 50 million people in over 300 cities around the globe, Cats the Musical is one of the longest running shows in West End and Broadway history.

For one special night of the year, all Jellicle cats meet at the Jellicle Ball. There, Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, makes the Jellicle choice and announces which of them will go up to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

Cats the Musical is based on T.S. Eliot's book of cat poetry, Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. Written during the 1930's and published in 1939, it was originally intended to be largely for children, but has proven extremely popular with adults of all ages as well. First adapted in 1981 in a production at the New London Theatre, Cats took the West End by storm, snapping up two Olivier Awards (Musical of the Year and Outstanding Achievement of the Year in a Musical), and after eight years on stage, and 3,358 performances, Cats took a prestigious title as the longest running musical in the history of British theatre. The production closed in London in 2002, going out with a bang with its 21st birthday after a staggering 8,950 performances.

Productions of Cats have since opened on Broadway as well as over 300 cities worldwide, including such destinations as Singapore, Buenos Aires, and Helsinki. And while the title of the show has rarely been translated, productions of the show have appeared in ten languages including Japanese, Finnish, Italian, Hungarian, and three different productions in German for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Cats is directed by Trevor Nunn, with Gillian Lynne as Associate Director and Choreographer and designs by John Napier.  Book is by T. S. Eliot with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.  Chrissie Cartwright, long term Associate Director of Cats, will work with Trevor Nunn and Gillian Lynne in re-directing the production for the London Palladium.

Cats is back for a strictly limited run of just 12 weeks at the West End's London Palladium, so don't miss your chance to see the musical phenomenon that has enchanted audiences around the world with its timeless score, and breathtaking costumes and choreography!
