Nathan Amzi joins the cast of Heathers in a last-minute save ahead of opening night

It has just been announced that Nathan Amzi will be joining the cast of Heathers The Musical, now playing at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. Nathan Amzi is perhaps best-known for appearing on one episode in series 3 of The Voice UK before delving more into theatre and acting. The Manchester-born actor and singer was asked to join the cast at the last minute ahead of the show’s official opening night.

Westerberg High welcomes Nathan Amzi, who will be taking on the roles of Big Bud Dean and Coach Ripper in Heathers, joining fellow cast member Carrie Hope Fletcher as Veronica Sawyer until the last day of school on 24 November.
Amzi quickly stepped in to perform the roles just days away from opening night. On joining the cast at the last minute, Amzi declared, “It’s been the fastest rehearsal I’ve ever had to performance, which was only possible with this extraordinary team. When I saw the show as an audience member it blew me away, it’s high-octane fun, full of heart backed by a stellar company. So to join their family is a joy.”
Nathan Amzi most recently played Exeter in Henry V at the New Generation Festival in Florence, Italy and completed filming for series 2 of Absentia. His stage credits include Prom Queen at The Other Palace, Dinner with Saddam at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Urinetown at the Apollo Theatre, Rock of Ages at the Garrick Theatre and Aladdin at the Prince Edward Theatre.
Heathers The Musical is based on the 1988 cult-classic film of the same name, which starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. Unlike in the film, the musical adaptation begins the story before Veronica became part of the popular Heathers clique.
