    Pop Idol finalist Darius Danesh will make his West End stage debut

    DARIUS DANESH TO MAKE HIS WEST END STAGE DEBUT STARRING AS ‘BILLY FLYNN’ IN THE SMASH HIT WEST END MUSICAL “CHICAGO” AT THE ADELPHI THEATRE ON MONDAY 21 NOVEMBER FOR A STRICTLY LIMITED 8-WEEK SEASON

    “CHICAGO” BECOMES THE ADELPHI THEATRE’S LONGEST-RUNNING SHOW

    Pop Idol finalist Darius Danesh will make his West End stage debut starring as ‘Billy Flynn’ in the smash hit West End musical “CHICAGO” at the Adelphi Theatre on Monday 21 November. He will play the role for a strictly limited 8-week season, finishing on 14 January 2006. Since his success in Pop Idol in 2001/2002, Darius has recorded two best selling albums, “Dive In” and “Live Twice”, and has had a No.1 single “Colourblind”. He has also performed sell-out tours. Sally Ann Triplett stars as ‘Roxie Hart’, Amra-Faye Wright as ‘Velma Kelly’ and Victor McGuire as ‘Amos Hart’. They will all continue to play these roles until 28 January 2006. The show also currently features Lynda Carter as ‘Mama Morton’. The smash hit West End musical “CHICAGO” will celebrate its 8th Anniversary in London on 18 November. "CHICAGO" opened in London on 18 November 1997 to rave reviews and immediately became a sell-out hit. "CHICAGO" won the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for ''Outstanding Musical Production'' as well as the 1998 Critics Circle Drama Award for ''Best Musical''. Currently playing in New York and on tour in America, "CHICAGO" is produced in London by the Broadway producers Barry and Fran Weissler. "CHICAGO", which is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Corin Buckeridge. "CHICAGO" is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie. The West End production of "CHICAGO" is staged by the entire original Broadway creative team.

    On 15 October “CHICAGO” became the longest-running production ever to play at the Adelphi Theatre, replacing “Me and My Girl”, the previous record-holder with a run of 3,303 performances.
