Curtain Call! Three Shows You Must See Before They Close

Yesterday we talked about West End comebacks in Encore! 5 Shows That Need A West End Comeback. Now lets have a look at the great shows that will soon be seeing the final curtain call of their West End runs!

It’s a sad day when West End shows set their closing dates, and especially when they’re the closing dates for shows that you love so much. It’s become a tradition of mine to make sure I catch a show (if I haven’t already) as soon as it announces its closing date, but luckily for me, the three most recent West End shows to announce their closing have already been watched by moi. So, just in case you haven’t caught them yet for yourselves and you want to join my little tradition, here’s a look at three awesome shows set to close in the coming months.

    Once at the Phoenix Theatre
After running on Broadway for over a year and garnering eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, the new cutting edge show transferred to the Phoenix Theatre shortly after Blood Brothers shuttered. The show follows the story of an Irish man who lives an ordinary life, and finds passion for both music and a girl in a beautiful and poetic way. All of the show’s incredible score is performed on the stage by the actors, and several different types of theatre are used to tell this incredible story. If you’re looking for something to see on a date night, or just want to experience something that is beautiful and theatrically moving, then make sure you catch once before it closes in March.

    Forbidden Broadway at the Vaudeville
I’ve been a fan of this off-Broadway hit for a very long time now, and have always found myself watching marathons of their sketches on YouTube when I should probably have been getting on with something else. Earlier on this year, a London production of the hilarious revue opened at the Menier Chocolate Factory before transferring to the Vaudeville on the Strand. The show takes the mick out of a wide range of West End shows that are currently running, as well as big names who make West End theatre what it is. An incredibly good laugh if you’re looking for something funny, and something you must go and catch before it closes next month if you’re a massive theatre geek like myself. Plus, Christina Bianco is one of the four Forbidden Broadway cast members... you can’t get much better than that!

    Evita at the Dominion Theatre
I saw this production of Evita for the first time over four years ago when it toured around the country, and considering I love Evita, I was very impressed. Because of this love that I felt for that tour, I decided to grab tickets to Friday’s performance and catch it before it closes next week. It’s slightly different than the first tour in that the show does feel somewhat longer, and the cast give the show a much different dynamic to the first time around, but the show is a great one all the same. Perhaps a show more catered towards those who are fans of Wet Wet Wet’s Marti Pellow, but still a very enjoyable watch and a fantastic production of such a stunning ALW show.

Don't miss your chance two see these three great show before they close!
