Olivier Award-winner Sheridan Smith plays the title role this major new production of Ibsen’s masterpiece Hedda Gabler at the Old Vic directed by Anna Mackim.
Played out swiftly over 24 hours, Ibsen’s startlingly resonant play is a thrilling portrayal of the free-spirited Hedda Gabler. Railing against a life of crippling convention she cuts through the lives of everyone in her orbit.
Sheridan Smith has carved out a reputation for being one of Britain’s finest young stage stars having won the Olivier and Evening Standard Best Actress awards for her performance in Trevor Nunn’s production of Flare Path and the Olivier Best Actress award for Legally Blonde. Her recent TV credits include Accused and Mrs Biggs and she also features in the forthcoming film Hysteria.
