It has just been announced that award-winning actor Giles Terera is set to star in Arthur Miller’s groundbreaking new play, The American Clock, which opens on 9 February 2019 at the Old Vic Theatre as part of the venue’s highly acclaimed fourth season with Matthew Warchus as Artistic Director.

Further casting has been announced for The Old Vic’s The American Clock as Giles Terera has been confirmed to be playing Robertson while also rotating the role of Moe with Abhin Galeya and John Marquez for each performance. Terera is widely known for having originated the role of Aaron Burr in the West End production of Hamilton, for which he won the 2018 Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

Giles Terera wrapped up his run as Aaron Burr on 1 December 2018. Other notable stage credits of his include The Tempest alongside Ralph Fiennes at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, The Book of Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre, The Merchant of Venice opposite Jonathan Pryce at Shakespeare’s Globe, and the role of Horatio in Hamlet, for which he accepted the award for Best Shakespearean Production on the show’s behalf.

Terera joins the previously announced cast that stars Abdul Salis, Abhin Galeya, Amber Aga, Christian Patterson, Clare Burt, Ewan Wardrop, Flora Dawson, Francesca Mills, Fred Haig, Golda Rosheuvel, Greg Bernstein, John Marquez, Josie Walker, Jyuddah Jaymes, Paul Bentall and Taheen Modak.

Three sets of actors will portray Lee Baum, Moe and Rose for every performance. The show is set in the wake of the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and follows the Baum family and their struggles to cope with the economic crisis.

The American Clock marks one of many Arthur Miller plays to be performed next year with perhaps the other most anticipated piece of his being the upcoming Old Vic production of All My Sons, which is set to star Mrs. Doubtfire actress Sally Field and A League of Their Own’s Bill Pullman. 2019 will also see Miller’s revival of Death of a Salesman at the Young Vic starring Arinzé Kene and Sharon D Clarke and The Price at Wyndham’s Theatre, which stars Brendan Coyle and David Suchet.

The American Clock strikes the Old Vic on 4 February 2019 and is booking until 27 March 2019. Tickets to The American Clock are on sale now but the clock is ticking to get the best seats! Book early and avoid disappointment!
