Tyrone Huntley was born in Lincoln, England. He is a British actor who is recognised for his work in musical theatre. Before playing the leading role of Wes in The View Upstairs (The Soho Theatre), he made his debut as a director with Ain’t Misbehavin’. The show amassed accolades at the Southwark Playhouse, Colchester and The Mercury Theatre. Not long ago, Huntley appeared in A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Lysander at The Watermill, which earned him a place on the Ian Charleson Award shortlists.

He studied Musical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.
Awards:
Huntley won the Emerging Talent Award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards 2016 as well as the Mousetrap Award for Best Actor for his performance as Judas in the production of Jesus Christ Superstar. For the same, he also received two other nominations – Best Actor in a Musical (Laurence Olivier Awards 2017) and Best Supporting Actor in a Musical (WhatsOnStage Awards, 2017).

His work in theatre includes his role as TJ in Sister Act (National Tour); Lanx in Angel City (Edinburgh Fringe); Genie in Aladdin (King’s Lynn Corn Exchange); Doctor in The Book of Mormon (Prince Wales) for which he received a BroadwayWorld Award nomination; Seaweed in Hairspray (Curve, Leicester); Gator in Memphis (Shaftesbury Theatre) with another BroadwayWorld Award nomination; Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre); White in Dreamgirls (Savoy Theatre); Him in Angry (Southwark Playhouse) with an Offie Award nomination; The Academic in Homos, or Everyone in America (The Finborough Theatre) for which he received yet another BroadwayWorld nomination; Justin Laboy in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s 21 Chump Street (The Courtyard Theatre), and Obi in Leave to Remain (Lyric, Hammersmith). He also worked in Porgy & Bess (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre).
