Sandile Gontsana is a professional jazz vocalist from Gugulethu, Cape Town. Born to a musical family, his career in music began as soon as he started studying African Music in 2004. He won the Jazz Idols Open Mic Singing Competition (2010)
Training:
He graduated from the UCT College of Music with a Post Graduate Diploma in Music in 2010 (Jazz Singing: CUM LAUDE).
Theatre:
He made his West End debut in the stage production of The Lion King. He is also involved in various performances around Cape Town, like Noah of Cape Town (Accapella Musical) and Swing on a Star.
Music:
Gontsana has performed with famous South African and international musicians over the years, including Joao Cabral Armando, Lead Vocalist for the UCT Big Band (2005-10), Denay Willie and Jazz Jamaica Band.
Other credits:
He was in the South African National Tour with Sibongile Khumalo (South African Opera/Jazz singer) and has worked in Boundless in collaboration with UK Actors/Dancers.
