Considered one of the country’s most important playwrights, Christopher Hampton has written a thrilling stage adaptation of the classic novel by Choderlos de Laclos which charts the seduction of both the young, voluptuous and willing Cécile and the demure yet passionate Mme de Tourvel by Le Vicomte de Valmont. Valmont begins the play as an unworthy, cynical pleasure-seeker, proud of his reputation as a seducer. This fresh production marks the return to the West End of director Tim Fywell who has recently directed the BBC’s successful Cambridge Spies and the critically acclaimed film I Capture the Castle.
