The Charing Cross Theatre in London

The Charing Cross Theatre in London was formerly known as the New Players Theatre. The 262 seater theatre is mysteriously located under the Arches at Charing Cross Station. The venue also comprises of the Players Bar and Kitchen which has a late license until 2.30am.

Founded in 1936, the Charing Cross Theatre occupied many premises before finally settling down in its current location under the Arches. The theatre is one of the West End's smallest theatre's with just 262 seats however it was reconstructed in 1989 to meet the wishes of international producers wanting an intimate but equivalent of an off-Broadway space.

The Theatre itself was previously a famous Victorian Music Hall and is now proud to be one of London's last remaining music hall venues. The theatre is full of atmosphere and warmth with over 100 years of history. The original Victorian bar is still in place at the back of the auditorium complete with its original Victorian glass panelling.

Today the theatre hosts an eclectic mix of drama, musicals, comedy, cabaret, late night shows as well  as continuing the tradition of Sunday Evening Music Hall performances.

Currently showing every Friday and Saturday evening at 10pm until 3rd December is the seven good looking, talented and completely naked men in Naked Boys Singing. The show is back in London for its fourth run and is a musical comedy featuring a score of 16 songs celebrating the splendours of male nudity.

Continuing on the boy theme, and who in theatreland doesn't like boys? From the 5th to 24th of September will be Confessions of a Mormon Boy. This story recounts how Steven went from being the perfect Mormon boy in Utah to a high-priced call boy in New York City. This provocative and true story takes the audience from his Mormon mission to Portugal, through excommunication, divorce, prostitution and crystal meth addiction as he struggles to reclaim himself and his two children.

The wonderful Charing Cross Theatre is also available for hire for private events and can host conferences, product launches, screenings and is licensed for weddings and civil ceremonies. The Players Bar and Kitchen has created a delicious menu to suit all tastes and it serves as a perfect location for a pre-dinner meal whether you are going to see a show at the Charing Cross Theatre itself or elsewhere in London's Theatreland District.
