Stacey Solomon and Vernon Kay to front new singing competition with a twist.

Sing If You Can is a new ITV1 series scheduled to start in April where celebrities are pitted against each other to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.  Two rival teams will have to sing pop songs whilst taking part in off-putting challenges such as having their chest waxed or sitting on an exploding volcano.  ITV controller of entertainment John Kaye Cooper reveals "It is packed with great music, edge of seat jeopardy and downright silliness.  We are thrilled to have Vernon, Stacey and a huge cast of celebrities in this exciting and laugh-out-loud new show."  At the end of each episode one celebrity from the losing team will be dropped into a tank of water, whilst the winning team attempts to raise more money for the show's chosen charity.

A who's who of singers, actors and sports stars have already signed up to take part.  Reality tv stars turned West End darlings Brenda Edwards, Ray Quinn and Jodie Prenger will be taking part alongside singers Chesney Hawkes, Michelle Gayle, Sinitta, Toyah and Ireland's Eurovision hopefulls Jedward.  Eastenders actor Ricky Groves, Heartbeat's Tricia Penrose, Emmerdale's Roxanne Pallett and Hollywood legend and Jackie Stallone's ex daughter-in-law Brigitte Nielsen have signed up, as have sports personalities Rodney Marsh and Darren Gough, plus Strictly Come Dancing romeo Brendan Cole.

Celebrities making fools of themselves for a good cause has always been a tv ratings winner since the It's A Knockout days, and Sing If You Can looks guaranteed to bring some good natured fun and frolicks to the Spring schedule.
