Leader Derek Nash has played saxophone for Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004. In 2000, he won a British Jazz Award for his album Young Lions. Martin Shaw on trumpet has performed with The BBC Radio Big Band, Cleo Laine and John Dankworth. His melodic, gentle, lyrical trumpet playing has earned him plaudits from around the world. Pianist David Newton has won 13 British Jazz Awards for Best Pianist; has played for Stacey Kent and Martin Taylor, and worked with Alan Barnes for over 30 years. Geoff Gascoyne – double bass and Sebastiaan de Krom – drums, were Jamie Cullum’s rhythm section for six years and several albums, and appear with Michel Legrand, Ray Gelato and the Giants of Jive, Peter King and Guy Barker.
Apart from classic jazz compositions from the great American Song Book, these Masters of Mainstream will be playing Derek’s original compositions from “Joyriding”, the 2012 Best Jazz CD of the Year in the British Jazz Awards.
