A tribute to Chanel
This double-bill ballet is a collaboration that will not only celebrate the wonderful dancers from the Bolshoi Ballet but will act as a tribute to Coco Chanel. The title role, performed by Zakharova, will explore the connections that Chanel had to the dance world. Chanel’s connections to Sergei Diaghilev will see his ballets Le Train Bleu (1924) and Apollon Musagète (1929) delved into and presented as a remarkable homage to Chanel’s relationship with the dance world. The tribute sees a wonderful collaboration between choreographer Yuri Possokhov and composer Ilya Demutsky.
As well as the story and dances that will pay tribute to Chanel, the remarkable costumes for the ballet have been exclusively designed by CHANEL Creative Studio. There are more than eighty costumes designed for the ballet, which were headed by the creative director of CHANEL Fashion House Virginie Viard.
Like a Breath
The truly unique style of this ballet sees the likes of the Baroque style of Händel’s music along with Mauro Bigonzetti’s choreography which beautifully complements each other. The costumes bring a dazzling contrast to match with its elegant but daring costumes which showcase further the sexuality of the dancers and emphasizes their movements.
