Nicola Maria Roberts is a British songwriter and singer born in Stamford Lincolnshire. Her dynamic multi-award-winning career spans almost over two decades. She is making her theatre debut in the West End revival of “City of Angels”. She is also in the new musical adaptation of Monsoon Wedding.
She developed a passion for arts and music when she was very young. She was part of the reality TV series called Popstars: The Rivals. In 2002, she joined the girl-group Girls Aloud. “Sound of the Underground”, their debut single topped the UK singles chart. They entered the Guinness World Records as the most successful reality TV music group.
Later, she started her solo career as a songwriter and singer. Her single “Beat of My Drum” and solo album “Cinderella’s Eyes” debuted in 2011 and received critical acclaim. She has, ever since, written for many international artists. In February 2020, Roberts won the first edition of ITV’s The Masked Singer UK.
Nicola Roberts is also known as an activist. After launching “Dainty Doll”, a pale skin make-up collection in 2008. With the documentary “Roberts: The Truth About Tanning”, she advocated the banning of the underage use of tanning beds.
