Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Madalena Alberto is a composer, singer and actress who has created a remarkable career in the West End. Her role as Eva Peron in West End’s Evita brought her rare reviews.

She appeared in The Vote (Donmar Warehouse) which aired on More4. Earlier, she portrayed the lead role in PIAF at Leicester Curve. Madalena also played Fantine in the 25th Anniversary Tour production of Les Miserables which received many accolades. She was also part of the Les Miserables O2 Arena concert which came out on DVD. She appeared in the workshop reading of Craig Adams’ Therese Raquin at the Finborough Theatre.

Training:

Madalena went to Bird College and holds a degree in Dance and Performing Arts. She also received training in dance at EDAM in Lisbon.

Theatre:

Her theatre credits include Zorro (Original London Production, 2008); Evita (West End Revival, 2014) and On Your Feet (Original West End Production, 2019). She appeared in Jeff Wayne’s The War of the Worlds (Dominion); I Wish My Life Were a Musical; Aspects of Love (Southwark Playhouse) and Cats (London Palladium).

She played Lucy’s character at the Union Theatre in the Morphic Graffiti production of Jekyll and Hyde. Some of her other credits are Sam in Over The Threshold (Edinburgh Festival and Jermyn Street Theatre); Aladdin at the Old Vic; Lucy in Threepenny Opera (Teatro Aberto, Lisbon); Carmen Diaz in Fame (UK Tour) and understudied Luisa in Zorro the Musical (original West End production).

Music:

As a singer and songwriter, Madalena combined her skills to perform her own songs. “Foreign Sketches – Live Studio Recording”, was the first solo album she launched in 2011. The next year, she released her EP “Heart Condition” where she collaborated with other artists.
