Growing up with the passion of a street dancer, Joel Ekperigin started dancing when he was ten years old. At the age of fourteen, he began to get a host of opportunities as part of his Sunday school, the Pineapple Performing Arts. Later, Joel joined Cerebro, a dance group and honed his skills further. It was a fantastic experience, after which he decided to pursue dance as his career and joined the Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts for training. In his first year of training, he got a complete training scholarship from P&O cruises.

While training, he took part in various projects like Peter Pan – First Family Entertainment, House Full 3, The Collection Amazon, Britain’s Got Talent, SHOOT DANCE, and Aladdin – First Family Entertainment. Joel made his professional theatre debut as a dancer in Thriller Live!
