Cherelle Jay, popularly known as CJ is a British singer, dancer, actress and teacher. Since 17th October 2019, she has been among the three alternates in Six: The Musical’s West End production. She auditioned twice before she could book her part in Six.
After her graduation, Cherelle joined the famous UK-based Hip Hop dance company “ZooNation” to make her professional debut in the West End and UK Tour. She also has her dance and mentoring company named “Heels and Feels” where she organises workshops, events, classes and retreats. It is a platform where women get together to discover confidence and support and find passion through dance.
Training:
She attended the Urdang Academy and graduated with a diploma in Musical Theatre.
Theatre:
Cherelle has a few theatre credits to her name. Some of them are Ensemble/Swing, Tweets/Soozy/Oprah in Some Like it Hip Hop with the ZooNation Dance Company, UK Tour (2011); Ensemble in I Can’t Sing! at Paramount/Stage Entertainment (2014); Ensemble in Into the Hoods with the ZooNation Dance Company (2015); Dhara Poppins in Eurobeat: Moldova at the Pleasance Theatre Edinburgh (2016); Fatimah/Cover Pritti Pasha/Swing in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre (2017-19) and Alternate Boleyn/Cleves in Six: The Musical at the Arts Theatre.
Film & TV:
Her on-screen work includes The Holiday, Mamma Mia 2, and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. She was also a backing dancer on shows like NTA’’s and The X Factor.
